| CULBERTSON MANSION HAUNTED HOUSE:
A
new beginning to the haunted house this year gathers your group momentarily
in the midst of a scientific delemma, as experts attempt to figure out
why power is shorting out, leaving lights off in the house, and distributing
high voltage through metal fences and surrounding areas. Following
warnings to avoid touching anything that could possibly expose you to the
dangerous current, you're sent onward through a horrific cemetery, where
hordes of undead zombies leave their coffins and graves to aggressively
pursue you towards the Carriage House. Up the old, rusty staircase,
a MAJOR double surprise is immediately encountered! The search for
a missing little girl reveals a secret passageway that leads to a ghastly
confrontation with a mad dentist, bodies being transfused with blood, and
a gruesome monster baby childbirth! Your Final Destination
lies just ahead in the form of an open casket, and the 2006 award winning
SCARE OF THE YEAR awaits at the Culbertson Mansion Haunted House!
Analysis:
LENGTH - 7½, Nearly 15 minutes if you're lucky
enough to escape! If not, you're just another statistic on their
blackboard of quitters, pukers, and other non-survivors!
ACTORS - 8½, Zombie attack outside the haunt is
outstanding! Fantastic make-up, and some pretty unique characters.
More dialogue inside the house would lengthen the event, and raise the
score.
SCARINESS - 9, Cemetery, surprises, and finish rank higher.
Need additional, high-impact scares to up the ante.
DESIGN - 8½, Beginning is a little weak, but sets
up the major double surprise perfectly! Zombie graveyard attack,
and secret passage are fantastic, while monster childbirth is quite unique.
One of a kind ending is classic, and serves as the ultimate climax of the
experience, although it happens to be a bit weaker this year due to the
replacement of surprising, maniacal, chainsaw packing fiend with Michael
Myers. Could stand to be a bit longer. Would've been nice to have
somehow kept last year's intimidating séance ceremony intact, and
just moved it upstairs (attic?), as that area is just too calm, and hurts
the overall score.
PROPS - 8½, Could use more in the way of animatronics.
VALUE - 9, $10, Very reasonably priced considering what
other haunts in the area expect.
RATING: 8½, We can always count on
The
Culbertson Mansion Haunted House for some unique surprises, and this
year is no exception! This season's additions greatly improve the
scariness of the attraction. The surprise finish is most memorable,
although last year's chase-out added to its intensity. Literally
a Haunted House is operated entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds
benefit the restoration of the historic Culbertson
Mansion. Pay them a visit for the "ride of your life!" |
